Solar PV Isolators

Solar PV Isolators

As the relevance of renewable energy grows daily the importance of 'photovoltaic' gains prominence in the UK and in the world.  Photovoltaic or PV  for short, is the term for the conversion of sunlight into an electrical current.  This current is then used for off grid applications such as the charging of batteries or fed, as is usually the case,  into the national power grid.

Direct current in the PV panels is generated by photons emitted by the sun and this can be measured all the way down to the inverter box.  This brings about a need to include the ability to disconnect the DC load to allow general maintenance or in the case of an emergency.

Safety is of the highest priority and in this ever increasing market, photovoltaic systems are constantly developing and improving to guarantee safe handling.

For outdoor installations, Salzer offers DC rated switches in polycarbonate encolsures with an IP66 rating.

All load breaking switches from Salzer switch the plus- and minus-pole simultaneously.
